Ocean Science

We teach the process of surfing. As surfers, we are keenly in tune with the subtle changes that occur in the ocean and at the beach.

Whether we’re looking at the perfect west swell at a point break, watching sandbars melt under the power of a winter storm or noticing something funky floating in the water, we see the ocean as a living entity – and where the ocean meets land, a delicate environment.

At Surfclass our commitment to the environment is one we take seriously. Each year we participate in local beach cleanups and we regularly engage in water testing efforts. We support local nonprofits like 4-H Club, Surfrider Foundation and the Groundswell Society. We’re also a member of 1% For the Planet, an organization that allows us to commit 1% of every dollar we make to nonprofit organizatons that promote ocean conservation, restoration and education.

"Ventura and Santa Barbara County is our playground. Ventura has long been considered "the jewel" of the Pacific Coast. From point breaks to reef breaks to standing on sand bars as they melt away from the winter swells reforming to get ready for the southern hemi's. We understand the ocean science and search out the best possible surf each day."
